Vallejo Rust Pigment is designed to recreate the classic orange-brown tones of mature rust on metal surfaces. Made from finely processed earth and iron oxide powders, this pigment is ideal for weathering armored vehicles, machinery, tools, structures, and dioramas where age, corrosion, and natural deterioration are key visual elements.

Thanks to its ultra-fine micronized composition, the pigment disperses smoothly into water, acrylic mediums, or turpentine. Applied dry, it produces a natural matte rust finish perfect for dusting, subtle staining, or oxidized accents. When fixed with Matte Medium, Rust Pigment becomes a durable part of the model’s surface. Glaze Medium provides extra working time, making it easy to create streaks, blended transitions, and realistic run-offs around bolts, joints, and panel edges.

For even more advanced effects, Rust Pigment pairs seamlessly with Vallejo’s Water & Stone products. Transparent Water can simulate damp or oily rust, while Sandy Paste provides the gritty texture needed for crusted, flaky corrosion and heavy rust buildup. All pigments in the range are non-toxic and come packaged in 30 ml child-safe pots, with weight varying from 17–39 grams depending on pigment density.
