Green Stuff World Auxiliary Chipping Medium - Weathering and Scratches

Green Stuff World Auxiliary Chipping Medium

This is the shortcut to convincing wear without pretending you enjoy painting microscopic scratches by hand. The Green Stuff World Auxiliary Chipping Medium is an acrylic medium designed to create realistic aging effects such as chipping, weathering, scuffing, chafing, and scratches on models and miniatures.

It works by forming a reactive layer between your base coat and top coat. Once the paint is dry, a little water and gentle rubbing lifts the upper layer, instantly revealing natural-looking chips and worn edges. The effect is immediate, controllable, and far more believable than forced brush scratches.

Suitable for both brush and airbrush application, it’s ideal for vehicles, armor, terrain, weapons, and any surface that’s supposed to look like it’s seen actual use instead of just leaving the sprue yesterday.

Application is straightforward. Apply a layer of chipping medium to the area you want to age. Paint normally over the top. Once dry, rub the area with a damp brush to lift the paint and reveal the effect. When you’re satisfied, seal it with varnish to protect the finish.

A few things matter here. If the medium dries too long before painting, the effect can weaken. Apply more medium for heavier chipping and less for subtle wear. Do not dilute it, as thinning reduces effectiveness and defeats the point of using it in the first place.

The bottle contains 17 ml of chipping medium.

Fast, repeatable, and convincingly messy, exactly how weathering should be.
